Getting the right information for your carpet is not always the easiest task. Every were you look some one wants to sell you their product or tells you their process is the best and not to go with someone else.
You paid thousands for your carpet. It is as much an investment as anything else and as such it needs to be taken care of. If you paid 10 grand for your carpet expect to pay 10% of the purchase price each year to keep your carpets looking new. When looking at getting the ed you should consider contacting the company you bought the carpet from or the manufacturer and get advice on what types of carpet cleaning methods they recommend.
With all that said you should really ask those questions when you are buying carpet. You need to know exactly what type of carpet fibers you have and what methods of cleaning work best and what kinds will ruin your carpet. This is important because if it takes a special type of cleaning then you know it will be expensive to maintain and the carpet maintenance may not be in your budget.
Another great way to go is to simply ask the retailer what types of cleaning companies they might recommend. Many times retailers have good relations with companies that maintain their products and can recommend a great company.
The only carpets you really have to watch out for are silk and wool carpets. These special types of carpets require very strict cleaning methods. Natural and synthetic carpets should be deep cleaned once a year. Steam cleaning is one of the most widely used deep cleaning methods. Personally I deep clean my carpets with a steam cleaning company once a year and have another company that does buffing clean it twice a year. Steam cleaning your carpets more then once a year is not recommended by most carpet manufacturers.
